Naptime in Delhi

Jet lagged in Delhi
I sit exhausted
In a public park
Away from the chaos
Of the city

Im a fly on the wall
My specialty
I observe the locals
Like babies at naptime
Soaking in the afternoon sun

Boy that looks comfortable
It was hard to resist
Like sweet carbs after exercise
My mind had already
Begun singing it’s lullaby

But I was reluctant
And I told myself
Napping now would only
Exacerbate the lag
So I observed

Like observing the locals
But this time inward
I looked tiredness in the eye
From mindless reaction
To intentional action

Exposed in the spotlight
It lost its power
The drain of lethargy
Zapped out my body
As I simply observed
