Yours to see anew

One thing that travel has taught me is that what you see can be wonderful, but how you see is more important.

One of the hardest things to do upon returning home is to see the old anew.  One of the most difficult tasks is breaking the pattern of routine seeing.

Because what could be a more important skill when our landscapes are not always in our control?

Try something new but…

Try something new but know when you’ve found something amazing.

Seek new things but pause when you feel something special.

Search far and wide but realize when you’re standing on gold.

Keep moving but appreciate when you’ve found a good home.

Travel and Moving

The more I travel, the more I realize I’m not simply moving physically, but also being moved internally.  I’m also being moved mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

When we travel, we’re moved to strokes of insight.  We’re moved to shots of awe.  We’re moved to bursts of frustration.  We’re moved to a deeper sense of purpose and meaning.  We’re moved to tears of sadness.  And we’re moved to tears of joy.

When we’re moving on the road, we may no remember what we saw or what they said, but we never forget how they made us feel.  When we strip away the comforts of home, we create room to be moved.  And this might just be the best kind of movement.  😉

The Journey Home

My soul squeezed
My motivation drained
My drive emptied
I had to leave

Blocking it all out
I numbed the pain
Defence mechanism on
I would not get hurt

Many years passed
And what was grey then
Is beaming red now
Its time to unveil

Its time to come home
With old wisdom
Its time to battle fears
With new eyes

Immigrant

He left for opportunity
To chase the dream
Can’t look back now

His family abandoned
His friends deserted
He did it for them

His soul left void
Tears drain in the
Darkness of night

New baby boy
They would create
Their own family

Out from necessity
Came new life
Brings new meaning

A new home
To build and protect
To call their own
